Following the path to “Homer's School" you will arrive at the location where, based on findings, the palace of the mythical Odysseus used to be. The site is not fenced and the visit is free. You can also see Melanithros source, which according to Homer, was used by the maids of Penelope when they wanted to get water. In the area you will notice the remains of several buildings of the Mycenaean period, and the ruins of the church of St.  Athanasios which was built on the ancient palace.

This beach is within a walking distance from Vathy. It is also accessible by car. Filiatro Beach is one of the most organized beaches of the island: Sunbeds, a canteen and the possibility to do water sports. You can even swim to the neighboring beaches.

This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages of the Aegean. It will impress you with its traditional architecture and picturesque harbor. The settlement began to develop around the 16th century when the prates stopped raiding the island. You can enjoy a nice walk in the harbor and go to the beach. The village offers many alternatives for accommodation and exceptionally good food near the sea.

The museum was built in the 1960s based on the architectural standards of the times. In the exhibition you will see findings from the Geometric to the Roman period. There is a small collection of vessels of the Geometric period which were made in a local workshop and thus called “Ithakisia” (=coming from Ithaca).
